Concept

True landmark, the Notre-Dame Basilica is a jewel of the religious architecture of the classical times. It is the work of the abbé Haffreingue, an amateur architect, who himself designed the plans.

On seeing the monument thus enhanced, the visitor is overwhelmed by a sense of grandeur: the cathedral looks towards the skies. The softness of the atmosphere and the feeling of reverence are essential elements of the site. In order to enhance them, the relief of architecture was assured by the work of verticality, a veritable translation of the metaphor of spiritual elevation.

Then, the lighting is dynamic. So the play between warm white and cold white sources offers a pulsating effect on the whole heart.

The shadows carried by the sculptures and crenellations of the façade give volume and depth to the nocturnal face of the basilica. The openings of the roof and the statue sheltered in the lantern are bathed in light. Finally, the majestic cupola softens the whole and gives it a protective appearance.
