Concept

A railway artwork undertaken around 1877, the Chamalières’ Viaduct is composed of 12 arches that span the thermal district on 263 m. Located at the entrance of the town of Chamalières, it now enjoys an enhancement that is part of the overall project of embellishment of the municipality.

We have proposed a dynamic lighting in order to adapt to the different seasons and the different festive events of the year. Image projections give life to the Viaduct and create an original nocturnal spectacle. On the occasion of the October pink event, the desired shades can easily be obtained by declining pink in different aspects.

Highlighting a monument that is both massive and open is a real artistic challenge. Gray effect spotlights bring out the texture of the stone itself. The colors of the light sources are cold to enhance the volcanic rock. The public lighting in the vicinity has been revised in order to adapt to the development. And thus to keep a coherence between the functional and the aesthetic.

A control system via the internet or via a mobile phone application is set up so that the town of Chamalières can interact directly with the viaduct overhang.
