Concept

Overlooking the Loire Valley from the top of the cliff, Chaumont-sur-Loire’s Castle has been listed as a historic monument since 1840. Located between Amboise and Blois, it was recently declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. After having undergone many transformations over the centuries, in particular the total destruction of one of the wings to offer a superb panorama on the river.

The objective is therefore to set up a dynamic lighting system that favors two points of view. Near vision in the inner courtyard and distant and semi-distant vision when you are on the other side of the Loire or in The park of the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire.
The lighting is thus focused on two points of view:

– First, a warm and welcoming light near the castle, giving a second life to the building, and highlighting the architectural details, mixing medieval fortress and castle rebirth.
In addition, the dynamic lighting of the machicoulis reinforces the immersion giving an impression of human presence in the castle.

– A second, a cold and powerful light, highlighting the volume and the shape during a distant observation, transforming the building into a true reference point during a nocturnal voyage on the borders of the river. In addition, the dynamic lighting allows a variation of styles according to the events or the periods of the year. Thus, the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire draped itself of a red mantle at the beginning of the autumn. And green with its gardens the time of the festival.
