Concept

Classified as a historic monument, the Notre-Dame Cathedral is the emblematic building of the town of Evreux. It is the result of a harmonious blend of Gothic style, radiating and flamboyant, and Henri II style. The spire is visible for miles around, constituting a real landmark in the nocturnal landscape. The will of the original builders to make it a « cathedral of light » has been respected.

Then, the shade has been wisely mixed with the light to ensure the maintenance of the sobriety and serenity that inhabit the place. Consistency with other buildings in the city that were also illuminated by Lyum, such as the Belfry in 2007, was integrated throughout the project. Lyum has designed an aesthetic and original lighting, but also economical in terms of energy and maintenance.

It is the first and only cathedral in the world to be fully lit by LED light sources. Special attention was paid to visual ergonomics and the integration of the project into a sustainable development approach.
